DYNASTY WARRIORS 6 : สามก๊กสับแหลกแล้วแหกค่าย 6

Hello there! It has been a quite some time without an update so here goes one. I've been busy playing DW6. Man, this game rocks. Now I have a chance to hackn'slash with my very own PS3. Now let's review it. Was it a great innovation or just another DW game with new number?

Gameplay :

Gameplay remains the same. You go into the battlefield, crush everything that walks with red bar and then go on to the big guy and smash him. WIN. It's really that simple. But what make this routine enjoyable?

Target Yes, this time you'll have 3 optional targets per mission that you can do it or just ignore it completely. The rewards? More EXP and more weapons. So you don't have to hang around and kill every single general to search for a new weapon. It's okay if you failed to complete the target but sometimes it will be a pain in the ass since you might lost some vital things.

Ex: In Battle of He Fei Castle, you'll have to prevent your enemies from destroying your traps. It doesn't matter wheter you save those lousy traps or not but they'll reach CaoCao real fast if you don't stop them from destroying those things.

Renbu System Every character's move will be replaced with a new one. Now you can spam Square button as much as you like, they'll loop endlessly but it depends on your Renbu Rank. The higher it is, the more combo you can do until it loops. Same for Charge attack. A good system, but it'll be a hell if you're dueling an enemy one-on-one with Renbu Rank 1 cuz' you have to fill up the Renbu by continually hit your enemies.

Siege/Swimming This adds realism to the game. Now you can fall into the water. You won't drown though, but you'll have to make your way to the shore or somewhere with stairs. It's really annoying to find these things. Siege takes time too. You'll have to prevent the enemies from destroying your siege weapons by killing the Defense Captain or climb up the ladder and destroy the Ballista. Then use your ram to knock the gate open. Simple, but takes time.

Skill Tree You're not collecting items nor buying a skill with money anymore. At the end of each stage, you'll have to spend a point that you earn for each of your character's level for a permanent bonus upgrade and skills. Some skills are very useful while some are really useless.

Graphics :

What can I say? It's New Gen and the graphic is better than ever. The atmosephere is beautiful and lively. Shading is well done. I love it. All character has undergone a major revamp. They look better and worse. Good visual, I say. But not to the point of superior.

Story :

Ha...Is this section really necessary? It's all the same. Quell the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Get rid of Dong Zhuo. Destroy your rival kingdom then another. It's just that simple. However, some characters from each kingdom will have their own Musou(Story) Mode and their own story. Guan Yu will survive till the end of the game if you played as him contrary to the fact. But that's good. At least you can have about 20 different endings.

Music : I'm not very keen at this stuff but I like the musics. Some are not good but some really became my favorite. I liked the theme of Lu Bu and Battle of Chi Bi the most. Koei still rocks as ever.

To sum up everything, I think the game was a great improvement from DW5. We have a lot of new things while we also had to sacrifice lot of things. There aren't many mode as much as I expected from a PS3 game. And the most unforgivable things, WHERE THE HELL ARE THE GIRLS?! How dare you cut off Xing Cai,Da Qiao and many characters?! Some like Jiang Wei are important to the story. I hope Koei will have a good excuse for this and release XTreme Legend. (Yep, I will have to pay again, damn.)

OVERALL : 8.5/10
